Nothing evokes a country gate or rustic mailbox as cheerily as a twining Black-Eyed Susan Vine, with masses of blooms all summer and large, lush foliage.
Managing to look very bushy but never getting out of hand, this vine is ideal for growing up through fences and gates, pillars and poles. Especially effective in containers, where its very full habit looks incredibly lush.
The 1- to 2-inch blooms arise very profusely, facing out from the vine. Petal color ranges from mid-yellow to deep orange, and many blooms feature the characteristic black eye.
If you love black-eyed Susan, you've got to see the two new color mixes fresh from our gardens. Blushing Susie is a warm-toned blend of red and rose shades, with a few pinks and apricots thrown in for good measure. Sunrise Surprise is a vintage-look mix of creamy rose, salmon, apricot, and ivory shades.

Great to crawl right up the hanging basket!

My trailing black-eyed Susan vines up the hanging basket become a almost green wall of privacy every August through October on my front porch. This packet of seeds will easily covered 7 to 10 containers. I didn’t lose a single transplant. I am literally obsessed with these flowers and won’t never plant another annual in a hanging basket again. They wilt (aka tell you!) when they need water and they perk right back up. They get full sun in my west facing porch but only 2 to 3 hours of direct sunlight. Wish I could attach a picture of my baskets, they are literally perfect!!

Enjoy gardening and pollinator plants
Started these seeds late spring in the planter and the plants are growing and climbing. I’m hopeful that I will have blooms this year. I will definitely start earlier next year.

The seeds are easy to germinate- love the constant color of the flowers - bought the seeds in white and yellow. It’s truest a happy vine in both growing on a trellis and in decorative pots.
